Usual Guidelines in Pet Friendly Accommodations

Pets Welcome!
Although the Hotels listed here have a pets welcome policy, it is a good idea to confirm by phone if they still have cat friendly and dog friendly lodging amenities to enjoy your next dog friendly holiday without last minute complications.

  • Pets weighing less than 50 pounds are welcome.
  • Proper medical certification specifying that all vaccinations are up to date must be available upon request.
  • A Pet Policy Letter will be presented at the time of check-in, and a non-refundable fee will be charged to the guest's account. Fees vary per hotel.
  • A "Pet In Suite" Magnet provided at check-in must be displayed on the outside of your suite door at all times.
  • Pet may be left unattended in your suite. However, if you leave the premises of the hotel with your pet unattended in the suite, the pet must be in a crate or pet carrier while you are gone.
  • Pets are not allowed in the public areas of the hotel such as the Great Room, Fitness Center, Library, Laundry, Courtyard, or near the food service areas.
  • Pets must be on a controllable leash at all times when outside the guest suite.
  • Guests must walk their pets in designated walk areas and are responsible for picking up after their pet in and around the hotel at all times.
  • Housekeeping Service - The pet must be removed from the suite prior to housekeeping service or other arrangements must be made with hotel management.

Anyway, you will have to personally contact the pet friendly hotel or pet friendly accommodation to ask for their guidelines, as they can be slightly different.

Visit Your Friend, the Veterinarian

Your trusted veterinarian is the best person to give you answers when you are planning a pet friendly vacation!
Tell him/her about your travel (where, how long and how are you getting there) ands ask for advice. Bare in mind that all vaccinations must be up to date and that you will need current health and rabies certificates, even if you are not traveling by air.

Ask about medications or treatments for carsick or restless pets; it is always a good choice to have them handy just in case. Also inquire if there are any other health risk for your pet in the area where you are going.

Porters, Taxis, Carriers, Kennels, Cages or Crates

Pets Welcome!
Although the Hotels listed here have a pets welcome policy, it is a good idea to confirm by phone if they still have cat friendly and dog friendly lodging amenities to enjoy your next dog friendly holiday without last minute complications.

Don't worry! they are different words for just the same thing, and you only need one (per pet). Choose an airline approved crate and you can rest assured that your pet will travel safely and securely.

There are three aspects of the crate that require your attention:

  1. size: your pet should be able to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably in the cage.
  2. identification: make sure that your pet's name and your contact information are clearly printed on the outside of the crate.
  3. training: if your pet is not trained to travel in a crate, don't make the departure day the first time to try to convince him to get inside! begin the training in advance so things are going to be easier for you both.

Other things you must take with you in your pet friendly travel are:

  • A sturdy leash and at least 2 collars.
  • Your pet's bedding (this will make him feel more comfortable at the pet friendly resorts) and also Food & water bowl set.
  • Treats, toys and chew items.
  • Waste removal bags.
  • Medications, supplements, and preventatives.

At Pet Street Mall you will find supplies for the Traveling Pet available at low prices and free shipping. Don't miss them out, there are some really great ideas!

Food and Water

Bring enough food and water for the whole trip and some extra for mixing in case you don't get your usual brand. Pets need gradual changes not only in food but in water too.
